JSCCA Gala Dinner Wraps Up Successful Two-Day Conference
Rt Hon David Blunkett shares powerful insights on adversity and resilience
The Jersey Society of Chartered and Certified Accountants (JSCCA) brought its two-day annual conference to a memorable close on Friday 10 October with a lively Gala Dinner attended by more than 200 guests from across Jersey’s finance and business community.
One of the standout moments of the conference was a thought-provoking session from Rt Hon David Blunkett, who spoke candidly about his own journey and the importance of resilience in the face of adversity. His message struck a chord with the audience, offering both inspiration and perspective on leadership, perseverance, and navigating life’s challenges.
“It was a real privilege to have Lord Blunkett join us this year,” said Bill Glancy, President of JSCCA. “His honesty, humour and insight made a huge impact — and reminded us all of the strength that comes from facing challenges head-on.”
The JSCCA were also delighted to recognise excellence within the profession by announcing this year’s institute prizewinners, celebrating those who have achieved outstanding results in their final exams. A special highlight of the evening was the presentation of the JSCCA Leadership Award to Ian Tait, in recognition of his exceptional contribution to the profession in Jersey. Ian’s leadership, dedication, and mentoring to the accounting and rugby community have made a lasting impact, and this award is a well-deserved acknowledgment of his influence and service.
Catherine Watson, Chair of the JSCCA Training Committee said: “It is our objective over the year to deliver CPD to our profession and the feedback from our members has been excellent. It is important as the JSCCA we give back to our community and we are very proud to announce that we raised £2,500 for CLIC Jersey and a further donation of £500 for the Sanctuary Trust and flowers from the evening were donated to Hospice. Special appreciation goes to Caroline Harrington, JSCCA Secretary and Head of Events for organising such another amazing conference.”
With great food, lively conversation and a strong sense of community, it was the perfect way to round off a successful event.
The JSCCA would like to thank all speakers and attendees for making this year’s conference such a success — and looks forward to welcoming everyone back next year.
